Yet another attempt at understanding----

RELATIONSHIPS
Sayesha's blog post on relationships, kinda got me thinking!
I know the more we talk about it, the more complicated it gets! Somehow, we all have our own perceptions and expectations out of relationships.

Neverthless, this is one aspect of human being that sets us apart from animals. Maybe that's why we think about it and spend time analyzing it.
I guess the picture gets clearer as and when you try to solve the puzzle..

My mom had told me once;"To fall in love, you have to first love yourself"
It does not mean that you turn into a narcissist, but its important that you love yourself for what you are, to appreciate what qualities you possess.

Consider for e.g. trivial cases, such as these:-) All examples are provided from "Girl-land", don't really know what goes around on the other side...(the guy land, I mean;)

A tall girl who does not find a guy who matches her height. Even though she has an asset to die for she keeps thinking of it as a negative characteristic and wishes she were few inches shorter.

A short girl thinks, she is too short

A beautiful long-haired girl is rejected by a guy on the grounds of being too traditional. Then follows a desperate attempt at revamping your persona.

A hip, suave girl is rejected by a guy who thinks she is "too modern".What next,
"Pooh bani Parvati":)

A rich/successful girl rejects a guy coz thinking he is after her money/fame..

So in any circumstances, each of one is unhappy with something or the other and craves for something that she does not possess.

Virtue turns into a drawback, insecurity..

People try to fit themselves into somebody else's mould..to come close to someone else's expectations out of him/her.

They try to make themselves so much tailor-made, so that they lose themselves in the context.

They end up being everything but being themselves.

That's sad.

Like it was said in the movie "Mohabattein""Koi pyaar kare, to tumse pyaar kare, tum jaise ho, waise pyaar kare, tumko badal ke jo pyaar kare, who pyaar nahi sauda hai"

[If someone loves you, he should love you for you and for what you are, someone who tries to change you, is a trader and not a lover]

What is the point in changing your inner self? Regretting something that is unique to you? Only for a person, who probably is in love with you for all the wrong reasons.

I guess, change should occur only if you desire it for your betterment, and not coz someone wants to see you that way..

Nice attempt Rays!
I wish I could add something here..
Most rosy relationships blend into chills of reality n then we are caught off guard. Man - woman relationship is the biggest drama of human existence in my book!
Lets keep musing n hope to solve this conundrum someday.

ROS,

(If i may generalize) We all want what we don't have.

Its not who we are outside that matters, but who we are inside.

Change for the better not worse.

I disagree with Pradyot...guys do think....and think a lot of what they want and need from a girl...in either case...both of us are generalizing over here. What is the reason for this inherent drive in each of us that leads us into relationships with the opposite sex? I have spent a lot of time thinking about this...and the answer is not as forthcoming as one thinks.

Blogger Rays Of Sun said ... (1:12 AM) :

#Vikram,

Emotions are what humans are made of ..Thats what differentiates humans from machines..

The meaning of those lines were not to imply melodrama, but to get to the point..
P.S: I would rather be with someone whose EQ >>> IQ

Blogger Kaala Kavva said ... (2:47 AM) :

@freakshow
pradyot was talkin about himself..
he duzznt think much otherwise he gets knee pains...

Blogger Rays Of Sun said ... (3:27 AM) :

# Hey Vik,

Don't apologize ya! I did not say it in a bad spirit. I agree, that none can take an emotional totally melodramatic movie right from beginning to the end! I am not talking of people who use 'emotions'to blacmail people into loving them, but about people who genuinely feel

Chillax! I don't expect apologies from my friends here:)

Blogger Rays Of Sun said ... (1:11 PM) :

#Vikram,

Hehhe:) No..your 'sorry' was justified:p..BTW, I did not notice the typo, come on it was 3:30 AM...:)))

Blogger Thanu said ... (11:43 AM) :

Great Post ROS. That was my mom's only advice. Never fall for a guy thinking you can change him, but fall for what he is.

Blogger Rays Of Sun said ... (1:25 PM) :

#Thanu,

Well said:)

So you were saying....
